We serve the whole of London with thermal imaging heat loss surveys. These provide home owners answers as to why their home is cold, where it is costing them money and wasting energy.
Homeowners across London have benefited from ScanTherm’s unique heat loss surveys for the past 10 years.
Sometimes homeowners have a general need to understand where they are losing heat from their property. Sometimes parts of the house or flat feels cold. In other cases, refurbishment is being planned and they want an infrared imaging survey to help prioritise what to improve, and where. It might be a brand new house or an old or even listed building. In other cases the homeowner has a very specific problem to investigate. For example, old (or new) windows may be draughty or cold and they need evidence of where and how the heat loss is occurring,
Heat Loss Surveys across London
Our office is close to the M25 and only 100 meters from a fast 35 minute service to London Bridge and Charing Cross stations so we can efficiently access most areas of London.
We use the highest quality professional infrared thermal imaging equipment and a “best practice” approach to provide home owners with valuable information on their houses. That is why we are often called upon by Building Control, the NHBC and housebuilders to investigate causes of heat loss from many types of home.
ScanTherm can conduct a thermal imaging survey for a prospective buyer, for the current home owner, or at the recommendation of the NHBC or other guarantee companies such as Premier Guarantee.
London Heat Loss Survey Cost
How much does a ScanTherm heat loss survey cost in London? We don’t quote standard prices because every case is different. Sometime people want a quick “is it OK” check on their new home. In this case we may agree a price for the survey and then an additional cost to provide a report only if needed. At that point the homeowner has a comprehensive document to show his home builder what needs to go on the snagging list. Other times a customer wants a top to bottom detailed analysis prior to deciding on extensive (and expensive) refurbishment. In this case we might provide a report running to hundreds of pages. Obviously the cost is also affected by the size and complexity of the building so we will ask a few questions before we provide a price. Once we quote – the price is firm. There will be no last-minute surprises
See here for more information on the cost of heat loss surveys.
We also provide the option of conducting the survey whilst the building is depressurised. We can advise prospective customers on what this means and the benefits of the approach.
As we say elsewhere, we know we are not always the cheapest. We do however believe we charge a fair price and provide outstanding value for a professional heat loss survey which gives actionable and reliable insight. We have been asked by several customers recently to survey their homes again after another survey had been conducted by others. In one case the owner had already paid a significant sum to another company near the top of Google advertising heat loss surveys in London but they had no confidence in what the “expert” had produced. We read the report carefully to make sure we could do better before agreeing to do a repeat survey and were immediately shocked to find that the fundamental principles of how to survey buildings for heat loss were clearly not understood. So trust your instinct, ask to see sample reports and look beyond one quote being slightly more or less than the other. You are buying a bespoke service not a volume manufactured repeatable product! No two surveys will ever be the same.
What Type of Properties Are Suitable For A Heat Loss Survey?
We have surveyed hundreds of individual houses of every age, size and design across all areas of London and its surroundings. No house or flat is too small and none is too big. And none is too new or too old! We have provided heat loss surveys on 1 bedroom modern flats, 2 bedroom Edwardian semi-detached houses and every age and size of home you can imagine up to a large Grade 2 listed building which had just sold for over £50 million!
We can offer standard surveys as well as the current “state of the art” method using thermographic scanning whilst the building is de-pressurised by an air tightness blower door. This provides the ultimate insight into the heat loss paths. See here for more information on the benefits of using a blower door during the heat loss survey.
We will provide a courteous and helpful service and will explain why we survey the way we do, and why we need to do it in specific conditions. These are typically early in the morning or late in the evening during cold weather. Understandably, most homeowners have some questions on thermal imaging surveys. We suggest you first look at our FAQs below which will hopefully help. Then, please get in touch with any further specific questions and for a free quotation.
- What is thermal imaging?
- How do I prepare for a thermal survey?
- How much does a thermal imaging survey cost?
- When to conduct a thermal imaging survey?
- What sort of thermal camera is needed?
- Which qualifications are needed to conduct a heat loss survey?
- Do I need an internal or external thermal survey?
- What is a blower door and why might I need one?
One final comment: we do not provide “quick and dirty” thermal surveys conducted under inappropriate conditions which may look impressive but are often meaningless and worse, may mislead. Nor with “hobbyist” cameras costing 1 or 2% of what ours cost. So you may be offered cheaper options but we do suggest you make sure you are being offered a worthwhile heat loss survey.
